About November – 2019 Underwater Paparazzi Calendar
The California sea lions are affectionately referred to as the “puppies of the sea” because of their puppy like playfulness! During pupping season, these cuties are extra frisky! While we observe these animals from a distance, we watch as they roll around and tug on each other. Occasionally we get lucky and they get curious about us! They will swim by closely and sometimes take a nibble at an extended GoPro or strobe. Such troublemakers! This is taken in La Jolla Cove, California
The magical kelp forests of San Clemente Island. Swimming through this underwater forest is nothing short of amazing. In ideal conditions, kelp can grow 10-12 inches in a day. There’s something hypnotic about floating through this utopia of dancing kelp blades. It’s a dive that should be on your bucket list!
These prehistoric looking beauties are in our waters year round but tend to be pretty elusive except during a few short months when they come into shallow waters to mate. During this time we are able to get a glimpse of the sevengills while just snorkeling! This was taken in La Jolla, California in about 15 feet of water
The Marine Room is a popular snorkeling spot for its shallow waters and vibrant reefs. While visibility can be challenging, some days we get gorgeous views with magical sun light rays! Depths here range from a few feet to 25 ft.
