La Jolla Cove, California
Skunked again. Yup. Been diving the cove all week and even though each dive had great conditions, still no seven gill shark. Conditions weren’t as nice as previous days but still good! Granted it’s still flat out with no surge really, but there was a more noticeable current today and the viz wasn’t as good. Average was about 10 feet with occasional pockets of 15. There were points at a 20 foot depth where I looked up and could see the surface a few times though. I’m still extremely impressed with my very “NON morning person” self that I’ve gotten up BY CHOICE at 5:30 AM to be at the cove at 6AM 4 days this week. Just typing that makes me want to take a nap. 😀 I’ve been so focused and amped to find the 7 gill, my dive buddies didn’t get the normal wrath of Jami at 6AM. 😀 Still a great dive this morning. We had a few bat ray fly bys, video is below where you can also get a gist of the viz right now. We also encountered 2 Giant Sea Bass. The first one I missed but Ryan said it was quite large. (That’s what she said?…..sorry… haha) The second one Melissa and I saw literally swim right over Ryan’s head. I grabbed him by the tank valve to make him look up. Unfortunately the encounters were too quick to get any footage. It was a lovely way to start the day!

Your quite an enthusiatic diver to get your self up and out so early, not being a AM person and all. I sure hope you eventually get to see this shark your trying to see.
