La Jolla Shores, California
Evening dive with Kimo, we decide to take advantage of these nice conditions. I swear I thought I saw a report of the sets being 15 seconds apart, but that was definitely not the case. They were small, but consistent, annoying face slappers on the kick out. Normally they stop right after the break but tonight it was choppy the entire surface swim. I’m talking mini wave facials every few seconds from the chop. No big deal, just a smidge hindering for someone like myself who likes to talk and talk and talk the swim out. (insert joke here, I’m sure you have one, haha) I finally just put my mask on till we got to the drop point. Viz was good, milky, but easily a good 25 feet. This dive was overrun with Sarcastic Fringeheads. They were EVERYWHERE. I always enjoy those goofy faces sticking out of the wall and of course the rare find of one out of its hole. We cruised around enjoying the view and also came across the juvenile wolf eel we found in my report from “A Crabby Night”. Stoked to see he’s still around and hasn’t been scared off. Maybe we’ll get to see him grow up. 😀 Shot a little video, but it was a bit silty and he liked to stir it up a bit. 🙂 Great night to be in the water!!
