Dive Report 09.17.15 – 4:30 am is Really Freaking Early

September 17, 2015 by underwaterpaparazzi Leave a Comment

La Jolla Shores, California – Crap patch and the Main Wall
Dive #556

4:30 am is really freaking early. And that’s the time I got convinced to do a morning dive. It was a bold request. I did debate on shielding my dive buddy from the possible Jami zombie that would groggily demand extra coffee and whine about sleep . Lucky for him, it was an awesome dive, despite the tsunami warnings, so he was saved (mostly). šŸ˜‰ Waves were small enough to enter through the surf zone in front of the lifeguard tower, slight current pulled us south, viz was farther than our lights could shine. Tons of life out! Recently I started playing with a 1963 Nikonos underwater film camera. Its been a fun challenge going back to basics and limiting myself to 36 exposures. I was inspired by an instagram account called @nikonos_project. Brought me back to the 7th grade where I discovered black and white photography and the darkroom. I’m completely playing a guessing game with this camera, so if you have tips, I’d love to hear them! Oh, and the weird developing marks… yea I did flood the camera this morning so its salt residue… We will just call it “artsy” šŸ˜‰
