La Jolla Shores, California – Scripps Canyon & T’s Rock
Dive #552-553
Scripps Canyon is always a cool experience with its incredible topography and deep depths. Tons of spiny lobsters and rock fish. Viz was around 10-15. Decent, but nothing stellar. So dive 2 we headed to another spot I had never been to before called T Rock. And it was incredible! It’s crazy how quickly visibility can change so drastically. We dropped down into the kelp forest to be treated to 30-50 feet of viz! Gorgeous kelp stalks tower through peaks and ridges of fantastic rock formations. Schools of juvenile black smith fish and senoritas flying through the kelp in changing formations. Garibaldi and rock fish swimming in and out of rocky hiding places. Giant sea bass cruising through, and beautiful red and golden gorgonians in clusters everywhere you look. It was an awesome day on the water to kick off Labor Day weekend!
