La Jolla Shores, California
Happy St. Patricks day! So if you’re diving in green water does it count for the “wearing green” rule? 😀 We celebrated this green holiday below the surface! Earlier morning divers were reporting less than favorable conditions, but since we all know how easily the condition can change, we headed out into the ocean at about 10:30 am. Waves were decent at certain sets. 3 feet ish. Nothing more than a light wave facial. As soon as you passed the break, it was a cinch. There was still a slight noticeable current pulling us north so we swam out farther than normal to make sure we hit the wall. It was pretty surgey above 50 feet but I found if I dipped below 60 feet, the surge was barely noticeable so I hung out there the majority of the dive. Viz was 15 feet on average. Found some feisty fringeheads, a ginormous lobster, and what I THINK is the tiniest clown nudibranch I have ever seen. I’m assuming its a clown nudibranch…. white with orange tips….? We also had a friendly sea lion playing with us on the swim back in. We ended the day with lunch and green beer at Jolla Brew House, great way to spend a Sunday!
See? Green water means NO PINCHING!! 😀 (Photo by Betty R. Thanks Betty!)
